Privacy Policy
Introduction
DisciPals ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored, and shared when you use the DisciPals app for iPhone and iPad, visit our website, or contact support.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create and use an account, we collect information such as your email address, display name, authentication/session identifiers, and account ID.
App Usage and Study Data
We process your reading progress, reading plan activity, highlights, notes, bookmarks, translation selection, and related app preferences so core app features work as expected.
StudyPals and Community Content
If you use StudyPals, we process group names and settings, memberships, shared reading progress, shared notes and highlights, chat messages, verse messages, invite activity, and moderation or administrative actions. Your display name and selected profile color are visible to other members of groups you join.
Notification Data
If you enable StudyPals chat notifications, we process an app-specific push token, a device identifier generated by the app, platform type, and notification preferences so notifications can be delivered and disabled correctly.
Technical Data
We may process technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and request metadata.

When you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, message topic, and message content.

Data Storage and Security
We use cloud infrastructure and managed authentication/database services, including Supabase, to store and process service data. We use safeguards including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and account- and group-scoped data protections.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information or use it for third-party targeted advertising. We may share data only as needed to:
- Operate authentication, database, hosting, push notification, and support-message services
- Comply with law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable requests
- Protect rights, safety, and security of users and the service
Push notifications may be processed through Apple and Expo services. Website contact submissions are processed through our form service provider. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices.
Local Device Storage and Offline Data
DisciPals stores some information locally on your device to support offline use and a continuous reading experience. This may include local copies of your preferences, reading state, notes, highlights, bookmarks, and installed translation files.
Session data may also be stored using secure device storage to keep you signed in. When your device is online, relevant data may sync with our backend.
Motion sensor access, when enabled, is used on-device to recognize a shake gesture that opens reader help. DisciPals does not store or send raw motion sensor data to our servers.
Information Shared Within StudyPals
StudyPals groups are private and invite-only, but content you share in a group can be seen by that group's members. Group administrators can manage membership and remove shared content where the app allows. Authors can also delete their own chat messages. Do not share information in a group that you do not want its members to see.
Your Rights and Choices
You may:
- Access and update profile details in-app
- Delete your account in-app
- Sign out and remove local session access on your device
- Enable or disable notification permissions and preferences
- Leave StudyPals groups or delete content where those controls are available
- Contact us with privacy requests or questions
Data Retention
We retain account and synced app data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Some records may be retained for a limited period when reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or reliable backup handling. Content may be removed earlier when you delete it or when a group is deleted, subject to those limited exceptions.
Account Deletion
You can request account deletion from the Account screen in the app. For security, deletion may require recent re-authentication (for example, entering a fresh email-based sign-in code). Once deletion is completed, account data is removed from active systems, subject to the limited security, legal, and backup exceptions described above.
Bible Content Providers
Scripture text in DisciPals is provided through API.Bible sources for currently supported translations, which at this time include NIV, NLT, NKJV, the World English Bible (US), and the American Standard Version.
Children's Privacy
DisciPals is rated 4+ on the Apple App Store. The service is not directed to children under 13 without parent or guardian involvement. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in violation of applicable law.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the last-updated date at the top of this page and provide additional notice when appropriate.
